Greg working in the cold van
The cold van is designed to keep samples from Lo'ihi at deepsea temperatures. Many cold blooded organisms shut down or die when the temperature rises so working in refrgerated laboratories is important to get representative results for many biological processes. Greg Horn is preparing incubations of bacteria to determine their rate of nitrogen metabolism.
