Description
We present a continuous global geomagnetic field models for the recent millennia: CALS3K.2 covering 3000 years from 1000~BC to 1950~AD. The model was determined by regularized least squares inversion of archeo- and paleomagnetic data using spherical harmonics in space and cubic B-splines in time. While data accuracy and dating uncertainties remain limited, reliable low-resolution global models can be obtained. For the first time a significant amount of archeointensity data is used in this kind of global model, allowing the determination of evolution of the dipole strength.
Model coefficients, evaluation code, animations and snapshots plots for every 100 years are included.
